Human Trafficking Isn't Just a "Super Bowl Problem"

Super Bowl Sunday is coming up! And with it comes up the press and media coverage associated with large-scale sporting events. You might be seeing something on the news about how “the Super Bowl is the world’s largest human trafficking event in the world.”

That’s not exactly the case; large sporting events of any kind will cause a spike in demand and increase the likelihood of encountering a victim of human trafficking. But, while you can’t pin exactly how many people are trafficked during an event, here are the things we do know:

What Can You Do About Human Trafficking?

Modern slavery is the fastest-growing criminal industry in the world and generates more than $150 billion USD every year. And despite growing efforts to bring an end to this evil industry, less than 1% of victims are ever rescued. Human trafficking is real, and it’s happening all around us in the largest of cities to the smallest of towns. And while it may feel overwhelming to hear about the atrocities of this industry, there is something you can do about it.
