#TackleDemand

This weekend the 53rd NFL Superbowl will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. Amongst the hustle and bustle that comes along with large sporting events, human trafficking, specifically sex trafficking, will see a spike in activity. While it has been hard to gain solid statistics on numbers of individuals who are trafficked during these kinds of events, anecdotal evidence makes it clear that it does happen. The influx of visitors, the celebratory atmosphere, and the potential for higher profits all work together to increase the demand for sex trafficking in these environments.

This year, we invite you to join us as we #TackleDemand for sex trafficking. The most practical way to #TackleDemand is to not purchase sex yourself and have the same standard for those around you. When no one is buying, there is no demand.

Another way you can help #TackleDemand is to be on the lookout for potential victims if you are at the event. Some signs to look out for are a young woman or group of young women who appear to be with a controlling older man (or woman).

If you suspect anything, immediately report this to authorities at the game or contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-(888)-373-7888. Never attempt to remove them from the situation yourself, as you can cause more harm than good. Remember, if it doesn’t look right, it probably isn’t right.

This Sunday and every day let’s #TackleDemand.

Want to help #TackleDemand every day? Red Flags is a completely online, 2-hour course that trains individuals how to identify and report human trafficking as well as covering common misconceptions people have about modern-day slavery. If you would like to learn more about this course and receive more great information, please provide your contact information here, and we will be in touch with you shortly.
